10 Minutes of Torah

from the Union for Reform Judaism

"Who among us is so busy that he cannot spend 10 minutes a day in the study of a Jewish text? Just 10 minutes? Such a commitment would enable us to meet our Jewish obligation to make Jewish study a fixed occurrence. If we make time to answer our cell phones a dozen times a day and to check our email five times an hour, surely we can find 10 minutes to contemplate sacred words that nourish the soul." — Rabbi Eric Yoffie, November 8, 2003, 13 Cheshvan 5764

Children's Education Programs

Shalom Kids, Shalom Tweens & Shalom Tots, 2010-2011

Shalom Kids is our Hebrew school program for ages 9-13. Shalom Tweens is our program for ages 6-8. Shalom Tots is our program for preschoolers. All three programs meet most every Thursday, commencing at 5:30 pm. The 2010-2011 class schedule will be posted soon.

Please ensure that children have snacks before they arrive so that we can go straight into our program activities. We will finish at 7:00 PM.

Each session begins with songs, prayers and dancing. Children learn Hebrew and Judaics.

The programs are conducted entirely by volunteers. Thank you to those who are giving their time to make this a worthwhile program.

Summer camps

Beth Shalom, in coordination with the Israeli group, Soul Train, runs a one-week summer camp. This year's dates were June 14-18. To find out about next year's program, email Amy Keefer.

Camp Kalsman — Many studies have shown that the surest way to build Jewish identity is by kids' attendance at Jewish summer camps. As part of the URJ, our kids are able to attend the fabulous Camp Kalsman, located near Seattle
